Duties:

The primary role of the Powerhouse Superintendent will be to develop and implement operating and maintenance strategies for the Somita Powerhouse to ensure optimal plant reliability and performance to meet the Somita Process plant power demand as outlined in the production plan in a safe, cost effective and environmentally compliant manner.
The role will required significant interaction with the process department to reduce unplanned shutdowns.
To manage operating and maintenance expenditures in line with the corporate objectives.
Provide a concise analysis of capital expenditure request with a benefits analysis and recommendation for purchase.
Ensure safety targets are met or exceeded through efficient coaching and communication.
Liaise with maintenance and electrical personnel to organize planned maintenance and to quickly rectify all breakdowns of equipment.
Maintain a continuous improvement and customer satisfaction culture.
Provide motivation and leadership to employees and contractors to promote a professional, vigorous and safe working environment, whilst ensuring adherence to the Companys SMS, EMP and all regulatory and industrial standard working practices and to maintain order and housekeeping at the highest level.
Organize the employment of sufficient personnel to manage the operation of the power plant and ensure the preference is given to local candidates.
Manage the training and development of all employees.
Develop service agreements with providers and scopes of work to concisely outline a consultants scope of work including timing and deliverables.

Requirements:

Hold an Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering Qualification
Have a minimum of 10 years or more relevant senior technical and production experience in a Power generating facility
Have a minimum five years working experience with MAK and CAT power generating equipment
Has excellent knowledge of Preventative and Condition based Maintenance practices.
Has extensive industrial maintenance experience along with reliability practices.
Excellent planning and organizational skills.
Working knowledge of computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP).
Display excellent technical skills
Be an innovative thinker, driven by results-achievement
Be resilient and resourceful and have a high level of integrity
Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills in English, proficiency in French will be advantageous
Be prepared to work extended hours on an ad hoc basis
Have successfully undergone security screening

Conditions:

Work location - Taparko mine (Burkina Faso)
6 weeks on - 3 weeks off rotational basis
